All Matthew Vaughn Movies Ranked

I love Matthew Vaughn. I think he’s one of the most talented and original directors currently working in Hollywood. Even though he’s directed only five movies, they are all brilliant. This guy hasn’t f***ed up yet, isn’t that cool? Here’s my ranking of every film Matthew Vaughn has ever directed. Enjoy.

№5: ‘Layer Cake’

Matthew Vaughn’s first movie. ‘Layer Cake’ has a certain charm, a certain vibe, that we don’t get to see in thrillers anymore. It’s one of those great British gangster movies that are just so rare nowadays. The film is full of exciting twists, brilliant dialogue, and amazing acting. The characters are very interesting to watch and the story in enticing and engaging.

№4: ‘X-Men: First Class’

‘X-Men: First Class’ was a revelation for the X-Men universe. It set up new environments, presented fresh characters to the public, and absolutely changed the franchise. The tone is set great, the narrative is well-structured, and the movie is just overall executed really well. It’s not so original though, it follows certain frames when it comes to general plot, but that’s normal, since it is, after all, a superhero movie.

№3: ‘Stardust’

‘Stardust’, as TheFlickPick would say, a little bit magical and a little bit mystical. The main reason why I love this movie so much is because it very intelligently takes an ordinary story and out of it makes a compelling, original, and very interesting movie. The characters in this production are amazing. The sets, the costumes, the editing, and the cinematography are all fantastic. ‘Stardust’ is a great film that brings you back to your childhood, you know, when you used to watch all these adventure movies before taking a nap. And that I cherish.

№2: ‘Kick-Ass’

I’m not exaggerating when I say that ‘Kick-Ass’ is the film I’ve rewatched the most in my life. It’s also one of my favorite films of all time. The film entertaining and it’s also meaningful (many of you know that’s something I love). It’s an amazing satire, it’s ironic, and it isn’t afraid to make fun of itself. ‘Kick-Ass’ is hilarious, the characters are amazing, and the plot is f***ing unbelievable. When you are afraid to pitch your ideas to your boss someday because you might think they are stupid, just think about the fact that someone went into a studio, pitched their idea for ‘Kick-Ass’ in front of other people, and they actually approved it. Brilliant. I honestly can’t find anything wrong with this movie.

№1: ‘Kingsman: The Secret Service’

One of my favorite films of all time. ‘Kingsman: The Secret Service’ is perfect on every level. The plot is amazing, the characters are developed perfectly, the cinematography is beautiful (as is the editing and the CGI), the action scenes are brilliant, the acting is spot-on, and film is both entertaining and meaningful. I wrote an article a while back on why I think ‘Kingsman: The Secret Service’ is a masterpiece and I still stand by it. This production is perfect and it should make history.

Plus, best villain ever, just saying.
