Mickey’s Weekly Recommendation: ‘Snakes on a Plane’

Happy Thursday!

This week’s recommendation is…

‘I have had it with these motherf*****g snakes on this motherf*****g plane!’ a.k.a yet another Samuel Jackson movie a.k.a ‘Snakes on a Plane’.

I consider myself a movie fan above anything else. I’m not a professional movie critic (yet), but that’s what I do on this website, I critique film & TV. But then again, I’m a fan above that. And as a fan, I value entertainment. I’ve done entertainment my whole life and I know that a lot of people just want to relax and have fun watching a movie rather than get deep philosophical thoughts out of it, at least most of the time. That’s why I’m recommending ‘Snakes on a Plane’. I’ve done many recommendations in the past where I tell people to see the movie solely based on its entertainment value and not because it’s an amazing production (like this and this).

‘Snakes on a Plane’ isn’t a perfect film. There are plot holes, it’s weird, it forgets stuff a long the way, but it knows perfectly what exactly it is: a fun movie. It strives to reach that part of the public that want to see a film just to have fun. And that’s a lot of people. And ‘Snakes on a Plane’ is the perfect film for those people. It’s not flawless, of course, but it serves its purpose and makes you forget your troubles by watching a story based on a ridiculous premise. So, if you are looking for a movie to simply get entertained by this weekend, I highly recommend ‘Snakes on a Plane’!

I think this one was just a little too plotless for me. I usually don’t mind films about snakes or other creepy crawlies and do find them just a bit of fun, but I this one didn’t do that much for me.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on it.

I totally agree with you- some movies are just pure fun to watch! Whether it was intended to be taken seriously or wasn’t, films like this one are just guilty pleasures. AND highly quotable too haha
