All ‘Love, Death & Robots’ Episodes Ranked

Love, Death & Robots is a new animated anthology series that recently premiered on Netflix.

It’s neither a hit, nor a miss. Love, Death & Robots is based on a promising premise and there is definitely a lot of potential there. Some of the episodes are absolutely fantastic. Others, on the other hand, are very bad and underwhelming.

But nevertheless, with around 10 minutes per episode, Love, Death & Robots is probably worth your time. The whole show is around three hours in total. It will be a three-hour-long quality rollercoaster, sure, but some gems will shine.

Here are all episodes ranked with some thoughts to each of them. We decided keeping it short would be appropriate for this one.

18. Blind Spot

Rating: 1/10

Pointless, meaningless, and uncharmingly boring, Blind Spot shines as the biggest miss in this anthology series.

17. The Sucker of Souls

Rating: 2/10

Generic and completely unoriginal, The Sucker of Souls fails to scare or surprise.

16. The Dump

Rating: 2/10

The Dump‘s completely unlikable characters and wildly predictable story simply make it unpleasant to watch and put the viewer in unease – but not in a good way.

15. The Secret War

Rating: 4/10

Good graphics and somewhat powerful character relationships won’t save this final episode from putting you to sleep.

14. Alternate Histories

Rating: 4/10

Alternate History executes badly an otherwise fantastic premise, making the episode somewhat enjoyable and somewhat fun to watch, but ultimately not very good.

13. Suits

Rating: 4/10

Pointless plot and a very predictable outcome, sure, and critically not one of the good episodes, but Suits is, at the end of the day, a rather fun experience.

12. Shape-Shifters

Rating: 5/10

Gruesome and gritty graphics, alright characters, and an existing message almost make Shape-Shifters more fresh than rotten.

11. Lucky 13

Rating: 5/10

Amazing CGI and a somewhat compelling story save Lucky 13 from being boring and bad; underwhelming pacing and flawed storytelling prevent it from being good.

10. When the Yogurt Took Over

Rating: 6/10

Pointless and weird, sure, but the premise is unlike any other and the story is told well; it’s a ‘yes’ in our book.

9. Ice Age

Rating: 6/10

While Ice Age fails to develop its message properly, a message does exist and a theme is visible – something many other episodes lack.

8. Helping Hand

Rating: 7/10

Great character development and gruesome imagery make Helping Hand a true adventure on screen.

7. Good Hunting

Rating: 8/10

Great storytelling throughout, fantastic concept, and no shortcuts taken – Good Hunting is a very good exploration of unseen realms.

6. Sonnie’s Edge

Rating: 8/10

Stunning graphics, a surprising and well-developed story, and a beautiful new concept world make Sonnie’s Edge one of the most promising episodes.

5. Three Robots

Rating: 8/10

Great humor, fantastic characters, and a powerful message told through a rather unorthodox lens make Three Robots 100% worth your time.

4. Fish Night

Rating: 8/10

Fish Night is a magical retelling of a familiar story, intertwined with stunning imagery and a thoroughly developed theme.

3. The Witness

Rating: 9/10

The Witness not only holds, but creates a new standard for animation everywhere. With unbelievable graphics, mind-bending frames, and existing in a genre altogether almost completely unfamiliar to the animation realm, The Witness is one of three Love, Death & Robots episodes that are simply fantastic.

2. Beyond the Aquila Rift

Rating: 9/10

While fantastic animation should surely be mentioned here, it is not, in fact, this episode’s leading best quality; Beyond the Aquila Rift manages to tell a compelling and utterly heartbreaking story so well and fast that we, as viewers, are immediately transported somewhere else – somewhere beyond the ordinary life.

1. Zima Blue

Rating: 9/10

While Zima Blue doesn’t shine with spectacular animation, it does something better than all else: it makes us think. Zima Blue is by far the most philosophical and though-provoking episode, exploring great themes and ideas through an altogether fantastic story. This one is a real gem.
